Flatcon will be held on October 3-5, 2008 at the Interstate Center in Bloomington. The event is about 40 minutes away from Champaign.
It looks like I'll be running an 1850 point 40K tournament on Sunday, October 5th. For those of you that missed the Winter War tourney, here's your chance! Forgeworld models except flyers and super heavies are okay. One force organization.
I'm giving plenty of notice so you can get some stuff painted! There's nothing like a deadline to get people motivated.

Dustin, could you post a link regarding the entry details about Flat-Con? This is really the first I've heard of it and would like to know more so I could try to make it part of my regular con schedule.

Sure, the website is www.flatcon.comIt's held at the Interstate Confrence center onthe west side of town off Route 9 near Wal-Mart. It's a big venue. Last year there were afew things I wanted to try, but didn't have time for. A guy had an Axis and Allies game played on a huge globe (5' around). There is a 40K team tourney on Saturday run my Luke Como (great guy), and my tourney on Sunday. They used to get abut 50 players for 40K, but the GW-run Grand Tournament is in Chicago the same weekend. I just wanted to post it well in advance so those that would like to go can plan ahead. I'd also like to geta few more local people in the Warhammer Tournament. I've played in them before, and they are great fun. You meet some cool people and get to see some sweet armies that give you visions of grandeur about "next year". Dustin

'heh, heh heh. I've ben working on some terrain and scenarios for the flatcon tourney. Each table will have different terrain with specific themed scenarios. Don't expect may stand-up fights.
One scenario that didn't make it was Big Game Hunt. Each player plunges into the jungles to hunt dinosaurs. The one that brings back the most tonnage to their deployment zone is the winner. I thought abot bringing in a scale to measurre them like a fishing tourney, but that was a bit too much.
